The Blorbs

2025

Four circle sculptures with fluid topographical shapes. They are brownish yellow in color and have white dots on them of bare clay. The parts with glaze feel smooth and glassy, and the parts without glaze feel like the unglazed bottom of a coffee mug

The Blorbs

Wanna See My Blorbs?

A series of sculptures & accompanying documentation of the process.

The Blorbs were created to fit within the criteria of their first exhibition. They had to be 6 inches by 6 inches in size and able to hang on the wall.

It was a fun experiment that allowed me to break out of creating functional vessels. Using my wheel throwing skills, I created bubble-like forms that I could cut, alter, and manipulate into organic sculptures. I had a concept of how I would make them without a full idea of the finished result. I embraced the materiality of my medium, using my skills and understanding of clay to enjoy the process and sketch in 3D.

They became these topographical objects that feel alive, with their surface decoration responding the the form and enhancing the fluid movement in the pieces.

The accompanying video, made to be posted on social media, presented an opportunity to compile the documentation of my work in a playful and cheeky manner that echos the playful nature of these pieces.

They’re fun, they’re weird, they’re Blorbs! Wanna see?
